After the girls left and I stopped crying we put on a family movie (a cartoon with some adult humor thrown in). It was wonderful to snuggle up with my family under my favorite quilt and do some laughing. When the movie ended I announced that I was going to bed and Matthew said, "me too." He followed me up and fell right to sleep.
I slept better than I have in months. I still got up in the night to use the bathroom and eat antacids, but then I fell back asleep. I felt like I slept all night, and deeply.
Then before I even got out of bed I was crying again. Not the out of control sobbing of the night before but a gentle tears rolling down my face. It is amazing how all consuming something can be, and then it's just gone.
While I was "scrubbing the tub" last night Katherine was doing her own sobbing with Gary. She wrote the girls a very nice letter about how much she is going to miss them.
Today Katherine's friend is here with us. The plan is for "the girls" to go out and buy a bassinet for the baby, and possibly a bouncy seat and a nursing pillow. Let the nesting begin.
