About Me

I am the mother to 6 children and former foster mother to 2. I am passionate about whatever it is I am passionate about, until I change my mind. I dream big, plan big, and once in a while I even make it big. We are planning to take our freak show on the road. Join us as we embark on a new adventure!

You know how when you have a handful of kids and people say, “Hey, when you have so many, what’s two more!?!?” as though it’s no big deal…well let me tell you, going from six to eight IS a big deal, it’s just like one would imagine it to be having eight children!

The food they are consuming is overwhelming. I barely have time to pick up from one meal before I have to start cooking the next! Phew!

I just looked at my blog and noticed that I have talked about not much more than the house for the last few weeks, yet that is what I came here to talk about again. Ugh. The house. Here are a few interior pics.

Gary and I both really want the house. When I walk up the stairs, I feel like it is my house. My home. But! But. But. But.

And then the “What if’s?” Part of the problem is that we love our house now. We want to stay here. This house is very much “ours” and I really like it here. I have no desire to move. Less than none, in fact. I really don’t want to move. I don’t want to sell my house, I don’t want to pack, and I don’t want to relocate. But…I am really tired of the neighbors. So much so that I could write an entire post about current neighbors and former neighbors who are coming back to cohort with current neighbors, but instead I will write about the house.

The expenses will at least double compared to what we expend now. Our house now is done (with the exception of the furnace, stairway, and the new room). We have done the kitchen, two bathrooms, actually, all the rooms. The yard is all fenced and perfect for kids, the windows are new, as will the roof be come next week. I know that homeowners generally can’t see any defects in the house they love, but really, our house is in move in condition. The new house has nothing and needs everything. But…if we can pull this off, in 5 or so years (if the stress hasn’t killed us before hand!) we will have everything we have now, only with 2 ½ times the space (and let us not forget 2 ½ times the expenses!) Sigh.

So to recap, current house, perfect, but on the small side and located across from Housing Authority house. New house, BIG.

Feel free to comment on my most recent insanity.

Wow...I am at 5 kids--3 bio and my 2 foster. The adoptive placement would have put me up to 6 (as my 2 current foster kiddos are going home to mom in a few weeks). Our first worry was transportation--we are still looking "just" in case it pans out (because there is always hope right?). The house will be a heavy consideration next year. It was great to hear that you guys love Maine! We fell in love during our 10 day trip. We own just about 13 acres up near Presque Isle--but I think the mid-coast region is the best fit for us. Anyways, it's great to find other foster/adoptive moms out there!! Praying for you guys as you decide what to do with the house.

We just bit the bullet and bought a huge house. It is almost 3 times the size of the old house and everything costs 3 times as much. We decided to make the leap due to the negative neighbors, too. Best of luck.
