Last week we were out and ran into an old neighbor. This neighbor should know exactly which kids we had when we lived next door to them, and she has two small children herself. So it was surprising to me when she pointed to one of the boys and said, “he looks EXACTLY like Gary” then pointed to one of our foster children and said, “and she looks EXACTLY like you. The rest are a perfect mixture of the two of you.”
Then yesterday in a waiting room another mother asked me about my family. I told her that 4 children were mine and two were foster children. Then she pointed to one of the foster children across the room and said, “I can tell for sure that is one of yours!” I gave her a look and said, “You’d be surprised.” Later she pointed at the other foster child and said, “That one is definably your child.”
How is it that my foster children look more like me than my own children?
