About Me

I am the mother to 6 children and former foster mother to 2. I am passionate about whatever it is I am passionate about, until I change my mind. I dream big, plan big, and once in a while I even make it big. We are planning to take our freak show on the road. Join us as we embark on a new adventure!

On Thursday we hit the Bean sale just right, getting a swimsuit for $9.95 and two pairs of pants for $5 each. Gary got two pairs of jeans for $5 too. I went back today for a cashmere jacket for $20 and a fleece for $7.50. It will replace the one that Gary’s friend gave to me while I was pregnant with Noah.

It was interesting how many people I knew at the sale…it was like a huge social event that everyone in town came out for. They should have served coffee and donuts to complete the affair.

Friday night we hired a sitter for the first time in what seems like years. We packed a picnic dinner and went to play bingo. We didn’t win, but were very excited several times during the evening. Once Gary was waiting for 17 and 48 to win $400. They called about ten numbers, then finally the 48 and someone else yelled bingo. The next number in the monitor was 17. Blah. TM(boring)I?

Saturday we were scheduled to go to a picnic for foster families. As of Thursday we still hadn’t received our entrance ribbons and when I called it seems they didn’t have our registration, despite the lengthy conversation we had on the tenth of May confirming that reservation. Whatever. When we arrived at Fort Knox
http://fortknox.maineguide.com everyone was in line for food. The people in front of us got out of line stating that they had been waiting for 15 minutes already and it hadn’t started moving, so we opted to take the tour and come back later. This was at 12:30 ish. The event was from 11 to 4. So at 2 we come back and all the food is gone and cleaned up. All the booths are packed away. We missed everything. All the free things promised to us were gone. All the important people we wanted to meet had left. Someone gave us a box of cookies and that is what we fed the kids for lunch. The people providing the food told us that they didn’t know what to expect because the foster care people, despite requiring reservations told them to plan for 100 to 500 people. WHT? That is quite a difference. She said they were planning to raffle off some watermelons but as people seemed to be just walking off with them we could have the last one. Gary put it up under his shirt and really freaked out a little girl walking by. So the fort was awesome, the foster care event sucked lemons.

On the way home we bought the kids Happy Meals because they came with adorable mini Build-a-Bears. When we got home they ate some applesauce and cheesies. Cookies, Happy Meals, applesauce and cheesies, (for those that didn’t catch it the first time!) for lunch and dinner.

Tomorrow I start school again and I am totally freaking out. I have no idea where I put my schedule and as of tonight no plan for finding out where to be at 9 am in the morning. I went to get my books last week and thankfully I don’t need to but a book for my online class. Last time I bought the book and we never used it. So as I was paying for the book I did need I noticed a sign for “FREE AXE”. It peaked my curiosity and I picked up a package. It seems Axe is a deodorant marketed to teen boys. The cashier said, “here, take a few” as he put them in my bag. I said (and this is a direct quote) “Oh, I have a teenager so that will work!” Twenty minutes later I am unwrapping the shrink-wrap on my new book when it hits me…I don’t have a teenager. Why on earth would I say that? The ironic part of the story, and the part that makes it worth telling is the book I was purchasing as this came out of my mouth? Communicating Effectively.

The other class that I am taking is sociology. Given my hatred for society I think it will be interesting to say the least. Boy, that sounds all Ted Kazynski, doesn’t it? I’m not dangerous in my “strong dislike”, really.
While I was getting read to post this Matthew colored all over himself with navy blue marker. For the record, I have no problem with my child coloring himself, but he starts daycare in 12 hours and they might. It wasn’t even a cute squiggly, but two huge blotches that my attempt to wash off only made worse. Ugh.
