We have the strangest Walgreen's. The other day I went in to get some small boxes of chocolate that should have been free after my coupons, however the small boxes were marked the same price as the large boxes. Despite my reading hundreds (okay, not hundreds) of accounts of people getting these chocolates, my Walgreen's insisted that the large and small boxes were supposed to be the same price. Sigh.
Then I went to get some gelatin that also would have been free after my coupon. I went though and bought 10 boxes, then decided to go back for 5 more. I had a different cashier this time and she told me that I could not use a coupon to buy them. She went over to ask the manager who agreed with her. Hello! I just bought some. The manager finally came over to talk to me and assured me that the system wouldn't allow me to use my coupon because to get the sale price I had to use the store coupon. I explained that one was a STORE coupon and the other a MANUFACTURERS coupon and that I'm pretty sure that if she checked with corporate she would find that I could use one of each. She again told me that the system wouldn't allow it so I asked her to please try. She did. It worked. She was amazed.
I explained to the manager that combining store sales (including store coupons) with manufacturers coupons was what most people do. I told her that it worked at CVS, Shaw's, and every other Walgreen's. She didn't believe me. Very strange.

OK call me sometime and tell me where this store is because i am clueless and we live in the same city...
But I agree that manufacturers coupons and store coupons can be combined, since a store coupon is basically the same as an in store special.

I once purchased 6 bottles of body wash and had 6 coupons and the cashier told me I couldn't use that many coupons. Huh? And then she told me that I couldn't use them because they were expired (it was the last day to use the coupons). Walgreens and CVS both make me feel like a criminal for using coupons. Good grief. You're not alone in Walgreens wierdness.
